CoderDojo Brisbane is excited to announce a very special school holiday workshop to wrap up a fantastic year of the program!
CoderDojo will be hosting an Hour of Code™ event on Saturday 10 December at The Capital, a brand new innovation centre in the heart of the Queen Street Mall. The Hour of Code™ is an international initiative by Computer Science Education Week and Code.org to introduce millions of students to one hour of computer science and computer programming.
The CoderDojo Hour of Code™ event will be a fun, two-hour workshop where ninjas will have the opportunity to create a variety of projects – including flying animations, Minecraft mazes, and more. All projects are suitable for all skill levels, with no experience necessary. More information will be provided to ninjas and their parents closer to the event.
The workshop will highlight Hour of Code™ activities featuring Scratch. With Scratch, young people can create interactive animations, stories, games, and anything else they can imagine. Scratch has become the most popular programming language for kids, with millions around the world sharing interactive projects on the Scratch website.
We are very pleased to announce our special guest for this event, Natalie Rusk, one of the creators of Scratch. Natalie will be joining us all the way from the Scratch Team at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in the US. She will be available throughout the workshop to answer questions about Scratch and for ninjas to show her the projects they’ve created.
